His unique mix of genres in hip-hop and alternative rock is what made him famous. He released four mixtapes from 2007 to 2010, before signing to Bad Boy Records. In 2012 the singer released Lace Up, his first studio album. It peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200. It contained his breakthrough single "Wild Boy" that was performed by Waka Flame. General Admission (2015) and Bloom (2016) were both commercial successes. The latter contained the hit single "Bad Things" with Camila Cabello, which peaked at fourth place on Billboard's Hot 100. The fourth album, Hotel Diablo (2019), included hip-hop rock.Machine Gun Kelly released his fifth album entitled Tickets to My Downfall, in 2020. The album marked the end of hip-hop and a move into the world of pop punk. The track "My Ex's Best Friend" was the first single to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200. It was the first rock album to reach that position.
